A group of ten convicted of online harassment targeting Brigitte Macron

A court in Paris has found guilty ten people for carrying out the cyber-bullying of Brigitte Macron, the spouse of French President, Emmanuel Macron.

The those on trial faced charges of spreading fabrications regarding her sex and sexual orientation, in addition to posting malicious remarks about the husband and wife's age disparity of 24 years.

The court issued suspended prison sentences of as much as eight months to the perpetrators. The full ruling has yet to be released.

A longstanding false narrative alleging that Brigitte Macron is a trans woman has existed since her husband's initial election in 2017.

This Monday's court decision in France comes as the Macrons pursuing a legal action for defamation in the United States against conservative commentator Candace Owens, who has likewise promoted analogous false narratives about the French president's wife's biological sex.

Their complaint states that Owens ignored substantial counter-evidence that refuted her assertions in favour of platforming known conspiracy theorists.

Owens has frequently reiterated these assertions on her show and online platforms, and in March 2024 stated that she would risk all her credibility on her insistence that Mrs. Macron is biologically male.

Brigitte Macron originally became acquainted with her current spouse when she taught at his high school.

The pair entered into matrimony in 2007, when the man who would become president was 29 and she was approximately 54 years old.
