Nearly 25,000 residences in Queensland's southeast were left lacking electricity on Monday morning after severe thunderstorms swept through the region, generating powerful gusts topping 109 kilometers per hour.

Large Frozen Precipitation and Broad Impact

Locals observed substantial frozen pellets as large as 7 centimeters in particular locations. Meteorological experts announced that multiple regions across Queensland had been hit with substantial ice precipitation.

Meteorological Predictions

Moist weather were forecast to persist along large portions of Queensland's east this next several days as a weather pattern continued to draw in moisture against the coastal areas.

Tomorrow was forecast to be the heaviest precipitation period, with continued thunderstorm potential predicted across different parts of both states.

Health Warning

Medical authorities warned that there was an increased chance of epidemic thunderstorm asthma across the countryside regions, specifically given the current weather patterns.

This warning comes after historical occurrences where analogous circumstances led to substantial respiratory problems in the state.
