Much like the recent storm swept through the north-west the previous evening, Manchester City blew United away at the Etihad Stadium. It was a convincing 3-0 triumph for their manager's side due to goals from Rebecca Knaak, Shaw and Lauren Hemp. It was a performance that firmly established their leadership claims as they strengthened their standing at the WSL pinnacle.

Consecutive Setbacks for United

This result represented successive WSL losses for Marc Skinner’s side for the first time since May 2024, leaving them a significant margin off the league leaders with their title hopes hanging by a thread.

The Red Devils' ability to juggle league and European soccer with a thin team has been a frequently analyzed issue since they secured entry to the Champions League.
