This Saturday, late evening, the Film4 channel
The Eyes of Tammy Faye
In the battle between faith and wealth, it's a knockout win for Mammon in Michael Showalter's brilliantly over-the-top biopic of the disgraced TV preacher plus her lawbreaking partner. Garfield acts as the corrupt Bakker, who declares initially, asserting religious justification for riches. Both individuals set about profiting from the nation's religious faith. It's an extravaganza of tacky decor, bad makeup and insincerity, however Chastain manages to present the character as a sympathetic figure. Next Tuesday, late night, Film4
