🔗 Share this article The second-hand marketplace Shoppers Voice Anger Over Sizing Changes Shoppers are voicing their frustration after an update resulted in items being listed as the wrong size. This online marketplace has updated its sizing categories for women's and children's garments failing to inform all users about the change. Online Platforms Backlash Many shoppers and sellers are posting online stating that platform listings now display an altered size classification compared to what was initially listed due to the recalibration. Vinted explained the revised method more closely matches comparable marketplaces. It has advised users to examine their items and manually change the size if necessary, causing user dissatisfaction. Size Classification Modifications Before the change, the sizing featured one number and one letter, like S/8 or M/10. The new system has an alphabetical indicator and numerical range like S/UK 8-10. With some products, the measurements have been reclassified - like an L measurement was previously a 12 but now shows as UK 16-18. User Experiences A fashion influencer, who produces content about larger sizing, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling". "Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," as the platform currently indicates. Another user, based in Glasgow, explained products she uploaded with size 14 tags were appearing on the platform as larger sizing 20-22. "If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they're going to be very disappointed," she stated. Manual Updates A different user, based in Derby, said she had been left angered because the modification necessitated personal updates the sizing for "all her products". "For me this is particularly frustrating, since I have chronic health issues and Vinted sales have been crucial for me since losing part of my income," she explained. Service Background The app has more than 100 million users, including 18 million in the UK. It has proved a popular alternative to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop. This isn't the first time that an unexpected update to the app has proved unpopular: earlier, the service retracted a modification concerning shipment methods after backlash from users.
